If you are missing 1 or more teeth and would rather not have a prosthesis, then an implant might be something for you.
What is it?
An implant is just like an artificial tooth root and is placed in the jaw like a screw so that it can hold a crown or a bridge.
What is the process?
During your periodic check-up, you discuss your healthcare needs with the dentist. If you want to have implants placed, the dentist will refer you to the dentist-implantologist who holds periodic consultations with us in our practice.
The dentist-implantologist will discuss the pros and cons of an implant with you, as well as the costs of such treatment. If you agree, a new appointment will be made for the placement of the implant.
1. You will first be given a local anesthetic.
2. Then, at the place where the implant will be placed, the gums are loosened so that the jawbone is visible.
3. Then a hole is drilled.
4. The implant is screwed.
5. The gums are stitched.
